I hate taking pictures...

So people have been asking me to post/send pictures of me pregnant...And I really hate that request!  :-)

I would so love to look cute pregnant, but I don't...I just look like I'm getting fatter!!  I don't think I'm showing that much...Honestly, a lot of that is pre-pregnancy flub which is so not cute.  But alas, I caved in and took a few pictures...So, here I am at 20 weeks! Oh and PS, I have no make-up on and I still have my cold in these pictures!

Half-Way There!

I can't believe I'm already half way through this pregnancy!  CRAZY!  And kinda scary!

This also means we only have 1 more week until we find out if it's a boy or a girl!  I CANNOT wait!!

I have been sick over the last few days..(The flu of course!)  Woke up Sunday with an incredibly sore throat.  Suffered through work but had to call out on Monday...I was scheduled to be off today but may not be able to go in tomorrow either.  Working in health care/with the elderly, they don't particularly like you coming in sick to spread your germs!  I'm feeling pretty miserable and I think if I hadn't had my flu shot I'd be a million times worse.

Here is the latest development on Baby Gist at 20 weeks old!

Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom — the "crown to rump" measurement. After 20 weeks, he's measured from head to toe.)

He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).

Questions? Ideas?

Hey everyone!

If there is a question you have for me and or Tony that you would like answered in our blog, please let us know!  E-mail it to me or leave a comment and we'll answer it and post it on this blog!  (I say e-mail it to me, because Tony's really bad about e-mails and blogging.  But I promise to share the question with him and to make him answer!)

If you have any ideas or suggestions of things you want us to post, e-mail or leave a comment!

Basically if you have anything to say, tell us!!  :-)

Dear Baby:

Daddy and I are so excited to meet you.  While we aren't exactly ready for you yet (we have lots of things to buy!) we can't wait to hold you, kiss you, and just stare at you!  I've probably complained a lot over the last few months because I haven't been feeling that great and I'm a big ol' wimp, but really, it's all worth it.  If you hear me complaining, don't take it personally!  It's not your fault my body has gone crazy!

We don't yet know if you're a boy or a girl, we've only seen you once and it was on an ultrasound monitor for like 30 seconds and you were only 9 weeks old and super tiny, but we fell in love instantly!  We saw your little heart beat (which was SUCH a relief!) and it was definite proof you were on your way!  Daddy has nicknamed you "Peanut" because well, that's what you looked like!  In a couple weeks we will have another ultrasound so we can see you again, and you'll probably look more like a baby then a peanut!

I've felt you move around just a little bit...At our last doctor's appointment, while he was listening to your heart beat, he said you were quite active.  I can't wait to feel you move more.

We aren't the only ones who are excited to meet you...Your grandparents are pretty excited too!  You will be one loved and spoiled grandchild...I just know it!  You will also have an uncle on your dad's side and then an aunt and uncle on your mom's side.  (I'll have to draw you a family tree!)

We can't wait to meet you baby...You are the most important thing in our lives...I can't promise you that we'll be the best parents or make the right decisions all the time, but we'll always do our best, we'll always put you first, and we'll always love you.  No matter what.  That I can promise you...

Daddy's been keeping a journal just for you to read someday.  He's even hiding it at work so I don't read it.  I plan on writing you more letters, in my own journal for you to have.

We love you..

Mommy and Daddy

More Baby Gear!

Tonight I've been looking at strollers.  (Or I guess in the retail world it's better known as "travel systems").

I've found a few online that I like but there are some in stores that I've seen that I like too.

I'm not totally crazy about the last girl option..It's alright, but it's not my favorite.

Oh and please note that on ALL the things I've been posting online, I've been taking into consideration the ratings they've been getting by people who have purchased them.  Everything I've picked out has gotten 5 stars or almost 5 stars by a pretty fair number of people who have bought them.

We will definitely post pictures of the items we ACTUALLY purchase as we buy them!

The ONE thing they don't mention...

When I found out I was pregnant I was prepared for morning sickness, nausea, tiredness, food cravings/aversions, heightened sense of smell, feet swelling, and crazy mood swings.  Those are typical things you hear about when you discuss pregnancy.  But what they don't mention and what I wasn't prepared for was my belly button hurting!

It's quite weird and annoying.  I told Tony my belly button hurt and he looked at me like I was crazy.  So did a friend of mine...Like how does your belly button hurt?  Well, it does!  It literally feels like it's stretching.  It's so weird.  But my co-workers who have kids assured me this is very natural.  Whew!  I don't need any more things to be paranoid about!  :-)

Baby at 19 Weeks!

It suddenly occurred to me you might want to know how the baby's doing at 19 weeks!  Here's some info courtesy of BabyCenter!

Your baby's sensory development is exploding! Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.

Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a large heirloom tomato. Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.

And here's what it supposedly looks like!  :-)

Bedding!!

My last post was about the struggle to find a crib.  This post will be my struggle to find bedding.

I'm not really a "theme" person.  I found some bedding I like that I could mix and match.  But I was online and did find these sets that I didn't hate.  Hehe.

For boys I'm liking things that have animals on them...

This first one is my favorite of the two I'm about to show you...

Here's the second one...

For girls this first one is my favorite..

And the second one I liked..

Let me know what you think!  LOVE your opinions!

Dog and Baby!

Now, this doesn't really have anything to do with Baby Gist..But we do have a dog (although she is nowhere near this size!) and we will have a baby.  And I hope they love each other like these two do..

Cribs! Cribs! Cribs!

I can't tell you how many cribs I've looked at...In stores, online..EVERYWHERE!  And they all are starting to look alike!!  I mean essentially don't they?!

I finally found 3 I liked!  I'm not big on the dark wood...I want the baby's room to be light and airy.  I don't want it to feel too serious or too gloomy.  I really love the white cribs.  Tony's not really a fan of the white!  He likes all the wood ones I don't like!  Lucky for me, he's pretty easy going so it won't be a fight!  All 3 of the cribs I like are from Target...Most everything I like is from Target!

Here is my 1st choice..The thing is, I only really like this if it's a boy.

This one is dark but I like it...

And then a white one..Hopefully you can see it!

Let me know what you think!  I'm sure I'll find more that I like..I'll keep you posted!

I'm already at 19 weeks!

I guess I'll start at the beginning for those of you who aren't completely up to date.

I am already 19 weeks pregnant with our first baby.  Baby Gist is due to make it's grand appearance on March 17, 2010...That date is creeping up on us and I'm starting to freak out a bit!  Hehe.

My doctor is great!  I really like him.  He actually grew up in Phoenix, AZ where I grew up and where Tony and I lived for a while (before and after we were married).  On our first visit we already had something in common to talk about (besides the baby!).  Best part of all, I get to deliver at the nicest hospital I have EVER seen!  It's HUGE!  And I know a nurse who works in labor and delivery.  I'm pretty excited and confident about the hospital I'll be at. Because of the flu season and H1N1 spreading in our community, the hospital (which I'm sure it's just one of many throughout the country) has put some restrictions on visitors allowed in labor and delivery.  They are only allowing ONE support person and NO OTHER VISITORS!!

The big news is that we'll have our "complete" ultrasound on November 4th at 2:00 PM to find out what we're having!  YAY!  I plan on doing a little bit of shopping afterwards!  My ultrasound is at the clinic at the hospital and then I have to drive back to my doctor's other office to see him, at 3:00 PM so, don't expect phone calls until after 3:00 PM!  Once we find out, I'll probably redo my blog to make it more gender appropriate!  :)  I did this Chinese Gender Predictor online and it predicts I'm having a girl.  I guess we'll have to see if it's right!

I can't say I've been loving every minute of this pregnancy...It certainly has been interesting.  In the very beginning, I wasn't having too many problems with morning sickness.  Just bouts of nausea at night.  Somewhere around the time it's supposed to get better, mine kicked in!  Around 17.5-18 weeks, it finally calmed down and I'm not feeling so sick.  I'm still pretty tired, but definitely feeling better.

My heightened sense of smell, has made my job very interesting.  You will often see me pulling out Bengay and sniffing it!  My emotions are definitely running high too.  I cry at everything.  We were watching Wheel of Fortune at work one night, and I totally started to cry when this guy won a trip!  One night I couldn't sleep and Tony woke up to me just sobbing..Poor guy didn't know what to do!  Crying is now my immediate response to just about anything!  Drives me crazy!

My appetite is getting better although more things sound just dreadful then good.  Meat right now is a BIG turnoff.  The idea of a hamburger just makes me cringe.  Of course the one thing I really want is carbs!  Pasta!  Potatoes!  Rice!  And that's something I have to watch!  I do have a big thing for apples.  Can't get enough apples!

Anyway, for those of you who didn't get to see, here is a picture of our first ultrasound taken at 9 weeks..

Photobucket

And also here's the 3rd pregnancy test we took...Deciphering the pink lines drove us crazy so we went for the digital one!  Made it so much easier!

Photobucket

I haven't taken any pictures of me yet...Haven't really been showing but now I'm starting to.  I'll have to have Tony take some...When he does, I'll post them for ya.
